In 1993, the team won another Super Bowl, and a third championship came in 1995. Troy maintained his remarkable numbers far into the late 1990s, but by 2000, he had chosen to retire. 

Initially, he said to the press that he opted to retire due to finding another club. He subsequently disclosed in 2013 that he retired owing to severe injuries. He was specifically battling major back difficulties that needed frequent therapy to alleviate persistent pain. 

Aikman also had multiple concussions during his career, most notably in his last season — but he claims that the concussions had no bearing on his choice to retire.

Troy instantly found employment with the Fox network as a color commentator upon retirement. He went on to win many Emmy Awards and currently broadcasts a weekly radio program.
